Parents are encouraged to be involved in the program and the centre. Children’s learning involves a partnership between staff and parents.
Curriculum and program notes are on display in the centre and published in newsletters. Parent ideas and program suggestions are welcomed, and parent involvement is encouraged. Photographs of children involved in learning and displays of children’s work document for families what is happening at kindergarten.
Parents can participate by contributing to the program in various ways eg by reading stories, leading a craft activity, playing musical instruments, singing with the children, cooking, demonstrating art techniques, sharing hobbies, listening and talking with children, assisting with gardening, helping with excursions, involvement in fundraising, and by becoming a member of the Governing Council.
Parent meetings are regularly held with speakers, such as Mark Le Messurier. Family functions, such as the Pancake breakfast and picnics at Carrick Hill, support parent involvement in the kindergarten community.
